Tara-bly Good Catering has been in business for 25 years, serving customers all over the state of Maine. We bring comfort food, or most any type of cuisine to your special events. New, as of 2023, we added Just Like Mom's food trailer, dedicated to and inspired by, Barbara Nelson, Tara's mom. We honor mom by serving homemade delicious meals with fast and friendly service. We can cater your special event with or without the trailer! With our hard earned knowledge we can bring a fabulous meal to your doorstep! Our forte is custom menus at reasonable prices to satisfy your palette. Try some of Tara's delicious 7 cheese mac & cheese, Aunt Connies slow cooked BBQ chicken, mom's blueberry salad, Gayle's apple cider whoopie pies, or Tara'd famous beef tips in onion and mushroom au jus. Tara-bly Good's Story
Tara's first job at age 15 was working for her sweet mom at South Shore Food and Dairy Bar in Canaan, ME. Her dad built the dairy bar for mom to keep busy while he tended to his paving business. Tara learned how to cook and create delicious meals while working at South Shore for 7 years. Her parents instilled in her a great work ethic and taught her how to treat customers the right way.
Tara never went very far from the food industry, she catered weddings and corporate events while raising her daughter and working full time for a jeweler for 16 years. In 2009 she decided to work her catering business full time.
The catering has always been a family affair with Tara doing the cooking with help from mom creating their tried and true recipes. Her sister, Gayle, started to pitch in baking gourmet whoopie pies and working events to help out. Their mom passed away unexpectedly in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of recipes, and a great work ethic. Tara's husband, Carlton, helped to make the food trailer a reality (with her father-in-law Larry, now deceased) and is the mastermind for getting things done. Her mother-in-law Lolly contributes to the long list of recipes and even some pumpkin crisp too!
